Frequently asked questions

What do we get asked?

Also known as micropigmentation, permanent cosmetics, derma pigmentation, micro pigmentation. Permanent makeup is a safe cosmetic application where high grade pigment is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin. The reasons for permanent makeup are abundant, therefore the interest in the procedure has been steadily increasing for both women and men. The fact is simple: permanent cosmetics is a fast and effective way to improve the way you look. It is not about changing your look, but rather, enhancing your natural features. Cosmetic tattoo is a way to save time and make your life easier. Wake up every morning with perfect make up.  Go for a swim, to the gym, have a run, play tennis, golf, shower or perspire, your make up won’t smudge or run off.

Permanent Cosmetics is perfect for the busy person/professional who has little to no time to apply conventional makeup, those who like to wake up with a fresh natural look, eyebrow symmetry,  the athlete who wants to look natural, Alopecia sufferers, those with medical conditions that cause their hands to shake, areola re-pigmentation after breast reconstruction/cancer, vision problems or those that have allergic reactions to over the counter makeup products...but mostly for convenience!

Micropigmentation last a long time, but not forever. As you become accustomed to your new make up, it’s not uncommon to want more. You will want to freshen up your new make up every couple of years.  The darker the color, the longer it will stay unchanged in your skin. Natural, delicate colors are oftentimes more vulnerable to the effects of sun, swimming and breakdown by body’s natural response.

Healing time varies from person to person. With proper topical anesthetics & numbing, swelling will be very minimal and typically there is no bleeding involved with my procedures. I provide each client with aftercare package and written instructions. The treated area will begin to soften/lighten up within 3- 60 days...and it is recommended to have your touch-up appointment one to two months max following your original procedure.

The initial procedure will generally take approximately 2 ½ to 3 hours, there are records to establish, photographs to take, desired design and color to discuss, the procedure to perform and the aftercare requirements to discuss. Follow up or color refresher procedures usually do not require the same amount of time.

A topical anesthesia is used as needed to help numb the areas to be treated. This helps to alleviate any minor discomfort you may experience during the procedure. Everyone has their own unique level of pain tolerance. Some people feel that certain areas of the face are more sensitive than others, so special emphasis is put on making the client as comfortable as possible. A variety of topical anesthetics are on hand to ensure that your procedure is as pain-free as possible.

Yes, a full-face procedure will take 3-4 hours. In fact, one advantage is that your aftercare and healing time for all the areas is consolidated into the same time frame. However, some people choose to do the procedures as individual appointments and some will do only brows and eyeliner and return for lips later.

For a more natural, less dramatic effect than is achieved with the look of full eyeliner, eyelash enhancement can be done. The color is implanted at the base of the lash line only. This procedure can even be done on men too and simply serves to define the eye lash line, make the lash base look fuller and more dense. This is great for those that don’t usually wear eyeliner but want the eyes to stand out more. All eyeliner starts with lash enhancement to color in the spaces between the eyelashes. The color is then widened until the preferred thickness is achieved.

Yes, you must be 3 months post surgery or have a release from your eye surgeon prior to that.

You must not be wearing any eyelash extensions during your permanent eyeliner procedure. You should wait until full healing has taken place before having lashes put on.
